Pathways: Programs

HARVEST PRE-APPRENTICESHIP

  • Selected Pre-Apprentices must enroll it at least 1 unit (60 hours) of unpaid work experience at the participating Community College in their County

  • More units may be added if approved by VETAP and employer

  • Upon successful completion, Pre-Apprentices receive priority enrollment for the following semester Viticulture Technician Apprenticeship Program

VITICULTURE TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP

  • Two-year program beginning approximately July and January

  • Program includes both classroom instruction (14.5 units of viticulture and horticulture classes), and 3,000 hours of employment at participating vineyards

  • Receiving formalized training on-the-job under the supervision of a qualified worker in all processes necessary to become skilled in the occupation

  • Receiving V.A. benefits in addition to wages if the apprentice is an eligible veteran

  • Will be interviewed and screened by the Committee including background checks and will work at several vineyards in San Diego or Riverside County according to the needs and demands of the employers

  • Will be trained in most aspects of vineyard operations

  • Once the apprenticeship is completed, students will have earned a Certificate of Completion from the State of California through the California Apprenticeship Council

ENOLOGY TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP

  • Two-year program beginning approximately July and January

  • Program includes both classroom instruction (14.5 units of enology and hospitality classes), and 3,000 hours of employment at participating wineries.

  • Receiving formalized training on-the-job under the supervision of a qualified worker in all processes necessary to become skilled in the occupation.

  • Receiving V.A. benefits in addition to wages if the apprentice is an eligible veteran

  • Will be interviewed and screened by the Committee including background checks and will work at several wineries in San Diego or Riverside County according to the needs and demands of the employers.

  • Will be trained in most aspects of winery operations.

  • Once the apprenticeship is completed, students will have earned a Certificate of Completion from the State of California through the California Apprenticeship Council.
